Prerequisites

To gain the prerequisite skills and knowledge, learners must have passed the Cisco CCIE Routing and Switching written exam. Before taking Cisco Expert Level Training for CCIE Advanced Workshop 2 (CIERS2), learners should be very familiar with the topics covered in Cisco Internetwork Expert Routing & Switching 1 (CIERS1). It is also strongly recommended that learners perform at least two self-paced graded assessment exams before attending this course.

Learners should be able to demonstrate advanced-level competencies (knowledge and skills) equivalent to the following from both a configuration and troubleshooting perspective:

  • Performing expert-level tasks involving WAN and switched Ethernet networks
  • Performing expert-level tasks involving RIPv2, EIGRP, and OSPF
  • Performing expert-level tasks for route redistribution
  • Performing expert-level tasks for BGP
  • Performing expert-level tasks for IP multicast
  • Performing expert-level tasks for IPv6 unicast connectivity
  • Performing expert-level tasks for Router QoS using the MQC

Course Objectives

The workshop teaches students how to use an expert-level, problem-solving process, options analysis, end-to-end test-taking strategies, time- and stress-management techniques. The workshop also includes five 8-hour performance assessments with troubleshooting and configurations sections each, which are graded and returned with interactive Mentor Guide feedback. Performance assessments are delivered on IOS on Linux (IOL) platform. Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:

  • Perform expert-level tasks involving both configuring and troubleshooting WAN and switched Ethernet networks
  • Perform expert-level tasks involving both configuring and troubleshooting RIP version 2, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting route redistribution
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Layer 3 Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting IP multicast
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting IP version 6 unicast and multicast connectivity
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting router quality of service (QoS) using the Modular QoS CLI (MQC)
  • Perform expert-level tasks for both configuring and troubleshooting IP Services

Course Content

  • Course Introduction
  • Lesson 1: Formulating a Final-Phase CCIE Preparation Strategy
  • Performance Assessment Labs with troubleshooting and configuration sections each: o 360RSW05-LAB-GA03 o 360RSW05-LAB-GA04 o 360RSW05-LAB-GA05 o 360RSW05-LAB-GA06 o 360RSW05-LAB-GA07

When performing each of these labs, learners are allowed to ask the instructor any question. Learners should frame each question as (1) a Cisco CCIE proctor-style question to emulate the actual CCIE lab experience, or (2) a standard instructor-style question to maximize the learning and knowledge-transfer experience.
